So, I needed to have three of my wisdom teeth taken out. When I made my appointment with the front desk, I told them I was planning to have three wisdom teeth taken our all at once for that appointment. However, what the oral surgeon had in his notes was to take out just one wisdom tooth first and then to take out the other two later in another appointment. I did discuss with him different options before I made my appointment for surgery, but when I scheduled the appointment with the front desk I made it clear that the plan was to do all three wisdom teeth together. I do not know how that information got lost but I had nothing to do with it. However, he seemed quite unhappy when I walked in for my surgery. Without any opening or greeting, he boldly said he would just take out one wisdom tooth that day. I was confused so I told him that was not what I told the front desk. He said nobody told him that and he only knew what he had in his notes. His attitude was impatient. His tone was tough and definitely not nice. When I asked him questions, he talked in a patronizing tone and would not give straightforward answers, and if I asked follow-up questions to clarify things it would only make him more impatient. It felt that he was angery about this whole miscommunication matter and was taking out his anger on me.
I've had a lot of work done over the past six months, mostly by Dr. Sweet. She is hands down the most compassionate dentist I've ever seen, and the staff of assistants and hygienists are top notch. Super responsive to phone calls, urgencies, tooth pain, etc. I feel great about taking my kids here and I recommend this office to anyone who has had bad experiences with dental care in the past.
I think he is good in terms of his professional skills. He did both surgeries well I believe. However, his attitude and way of interacting with his patient (me) was quite problematic. It really depends on how he feels at the moment. Do not remember anything particular from my first surgery which was several years ago. For the recent one, which was done a week ago, there seemed to be a miscommunication between the front desk and him, regarding my appointment. The way he handled it was truly unacceptable.
I ended up having all three of my teeth taken out, but he had his tough tone and impatience kept during the whole process. Although he tried to be a bit nice in the end, the surgery was still an awful experience. I have lived in Oregon for ten years and have seen a number of doctors for different reasons, but I have never seen a single doctor acting like that. Will definitely go to someone else if I need a surgery in the future!
I have had two surgeries (wisdom teeth removal) with them, performed by the same and only oral surgeon there. Well, my experience with the oral surgeon is a bit mixed.
I have been coming here for about 7 years and have never had a bad experience involving or Dr. Tolmach or her wonderful and caring staff. My son had molars pulled here and was so nervous about the procedure and I appreciated the staff taking extra time with him and being so caring! All staff are professional, kind and seem to love their job! Nice aura-haha : )
I had a root canal done by Dr. Collins recently, on a back molar with a big chip in it. Dr. Collins listened every time there was pressure/pain and took measures to numb it. I came away worried it was going to be sore, but there was NO pain after the numbing agent wore off. Not even my gums, jaw, or lips hurt. And it's been completely pain free since. I can actually chew on BOTH sides of my mouth again. Top notch!
