I enjoy visiting Metropol bakery for weekend brunch. I generally order a breakfast sandwich on a bun with coffee. It is always delicious and fast. Their bread is amazing, just what you would hope for from a local bakery. One year I pre-ordered rolls for Christmas for a large gathering. They came through and everyone was really happy with the result. Their desserts always look amazing and I look forward to trying them all.
I think this place has pretty decent pastries. Their prices are a little on the outrageous side. And when you consider the incredibly slow service, probably due to understaffing, the pricing seems unfair. I can't help but wonder whether the owner is scraping by, or is laughing all the way to the bank.
I'm a snob when it comes to bread. The Ciabatta and the baguette are the best in town. Haven't had bread like this since I moved here from Europe. pies and cakes are very good too. It's on the expensive side, I'm not used to paying $5.75 for bread but if you really want bread the way it's meant to be, this is the place.
And these 5 stars are coming from a biker that has pedaled the world in search of the best breads and pastries! It doesn't get any better than this place!
