UPDATED.... The staff double billed so I brought in proof was able to get a refund, then one of the staff decided I lied even with bank statements and called me a thief. Never apologized even when I brought the main vet my detailed bank statement and proof again. Left me without a vet for my difficult cat in a time of need.
Just started taking my dog here. Great place. Very caring, professional.
We recently moved to Eugene and when looking for a vet I chose The Veterinary Hospital based off of reviews online. The front desk staff is wonderful, welcoming, and kind to my animals. However, I was not pleased with my experience with both my animals as a whole. One of our dogs had a laceration on her side. It was about an inch in length and required removing skin around the edge of the wound to prevent infection when sewing it up. The additional evaluation and surgery cost us around $500, which I thought was way more than I have paid for anything in the past. Our second dog had been limping, and soon no longer using, her back left leg. We called to schedule an x-ray believing that it was related to her knee and possibly her ACL. I specified on the phone that she needed an x-ray on her knee and clarified that this was the need for the appointment. When we arrived she was evaluated and we were told it was too late in the day for an x-ray and we would have to come back. It is a half hour drive from our home and my dog is terrified of the car. During the evaluation, the first vet explained that he did not believe it was her knee and thought it was her hip and suggested they do x-ray’s on both knee and hip. When I scheduled the x-ray (again), we were charged again for a pre-x-ray evaluation because she was being sedated and she was originally seen by a different vet. I was thoroughly confused as to why she was seen by two different vets and why we were charged for both visits when this was clearly a mix-up on their part. When I asked them if it was possible to wave one of the evaluations because the x-ray was not scheduled properly the first time, they said no. This cost us another $500. When the results to the x-ray came back the vet told me that it was not her hip and that he couldn’t get a clear read on whether it was her knee. He asked if we wanted to send the image to be evaluated by a specialist, for an additional $100. I said yes, of course, and did not receive any clear confirmation as to what was wrong with our dog after the images were sent away. I had the images sent to my vet in Montana. She was quick to schedule surgery and it turned out she had a ruptured meniscus and a partial tear in her ACL which cost us less than all her visits at this clinic. From the actual veterinarians, I never felt that my dogs were special cases and individual patients. It felt as if they were just another animal coming in for a visit. Not personal at all. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with both experiences and would not recommend this clinic to anyone.
It was time to put our 15 year old dog down and we weren't able to get into her regular vet so we called The Veterinary Hospital. We were able to get in within a day and received the best care on a really tough day. The doctor gave her honest opinions and explained how everything would work. We were given as much time as we needed to say goodbye. She had genuine compassion for our dog and family. I 100% recommend.
Staff was fine, warm and welcoming until we realized we got put into a payment program we really should not have been advised for. We knew we would be moving away, and specifically told them this, but now we're stuck in a plan paying monthly payments while we aren't able to use the service - as it only works at this clinic. We should have been told this when we explained we were moving away. Very hostile conversation when I was simply asking questions regarding this problem. No solutions just an unfortunately curt employee, I was surprised by the tone on their end given we were just trying to clarify an issue.. Minor issues here are there along the way, mostly good experiences with our two animals but this has left us with some regrettably poor feelings towards the veterinary hospital, hopefully our new clinic will provide us with necessary information, more compassionate visits with the doctors, and understanding staff that don't leave us pouring money into nothing for the next eight months.
